oscar mulero presents: perfect peace . don t expect dancefloor burners here, this time the spanish techno master goes deep and low, exploring sonic textures, low bpm grooves and the intelligent side of electronic music. melodies, pads, drones and grooves collide in this soulful collection, conceived to be listened as a soundtrack. oscar is not new to this sounds, in his grey fades to green or muscle and mind albums he showcased his abilities in this field as well as with his av projects biolive and monochrome. a new step in oscar mulero s ever growing career, showing his studio skills and music taste, far beyond his role as a fundamental techno dj.
to find lawkyz, follow the beat. it is here, in this vital part, this lighthouse which guides the route of the other instruments, which it prints in depth the low notes of his four strings. riveted on the drums. linking with it a rhythmic pact, ensuring the propulsion of the groove on stage with erik truffaz or guts, on records with uht ¡, anna kova, or versus, his hip hop project with full live band. when he puts his fetish instrument, when he lets cool his amp, then wakes up his evil twin: the waxidermist. one year after his last ep, the waxidermist comes back to tell his story.
on limited edition compact disc. no. welcomes canadian france jobin to the label. the montreal based artist will release her 9th album on no.. with her release entitled intrication, she grapples with some truly cosmic concepts involving quantum entanglement (go on, google it..) amongst other truly magical ideas which physics tend to invent these days. musically the release can be described as Ômicrosound ambient but we think its much larger than that. it is at once comprised of microscopic sonic particles yet combines that with the warmth we know and love from the Ôambient cosmos. whilst the sub atomic particles of noise bounce around your mind, the total work weaves a warm blanket of audio enjoyment on both the micro and macroscopic levels revealing a world at once both too tiny to comprehend and too large to grasp. presented here as no. 916 for your scientific scrutiny
the shadows is the new album from leeds-based six-piece tomorrow we sail. building on their debut release for those who caught the sun in flight (gizeh, 2014) over the course of three years, this new work combines perfectly the soaring atmospherics, gorgeously intertwined vocal harmonies and dramatic shifts in tone and dynamics that have come to characterise tomorrow we sailÕs sound. yet, there is a new sense of urgency here. very much an album of its time, the shadows draws upon the same sense of connection to both past and present that defined its precursor but features storytelling thatÕs even more defiant and deeply personal.
like its predecessor, the record features seven songs but from the chiming guitars of opening track side by side it is clear that the stately pace of for those who caught the sun in flight has made way for a far more dynamic and driving energy, perhaps best captured in the righteous anger of the ghost of john maynard keynes. tomorrow we sail still invoke a keen sense of measured grace in their songwriting - from the sweeping, elegiac title track, through to the sparse, restrained, yet haunting beauty of winifred and to sleep. urgent, yet assured, the shadows demands your attention.
this compilation acts as an introduction to this electric, cool and uplifting music that was affecting so many enthusiastic dancers and dj / collectors. all the tracks on here are taken from one of the most prolific and emerging labels for this genre muse records that offered the complete spectrum of styles to fit in with this emerging scene crossing over with jazz fusion, be bop, vocals, electric keyboards, and percussion.
*cd version with exclusive track!* after three stand out eps over the last three years for l.i.e.s. tzusing delivers his debut lp for the label. here we get seven tracks of precison crafted electronics, unmistakenly taking the artists signature industrial fueled sound and opening it up to a new dimension far beyond the typical metal beat clang. ltd edition pressing. . emotional, dark and powerful, the album title taken literally means -invincible east- based on a character (a swordsman) in a jin yong novel who must make the ultimate sacrifice to attain knowledge and transform. the narrative goes in hand with the artists observations living and travelling throughout asia and provides a haunting soundtrack for a bleak future where few dare to subvert the power structures at hand.
kuf create emotion-laden dialogues across layers of time and dimensions of sound. voices recorded in private are chopped up and brought out center-stage to sing with beats hammered out right here and now. glowing synths push forward. basslines rise to grab the melodic role of a track while a vowel is truncated and locked into a grid, driving the rhythm. voices move within the frame of a sample, performed by hands pushing keys, guided by the ear, immersed in a trio sessions deep flowÉ a vortex of quirky hands, responsive ears and glowing circuits. since thomas a. edison first recorded the human voice in 1877, the recording arts have changed music forever. musicians have explored the endless possibilities of bouncing their input onto layers of tape, off the walls of an echo chamber or the circuitry of electronic helpers - technology that modulates, spatializes, shifts, divides or multiplies the work of human hands and mouths. an era of sampling offered a cubistic analysis of the recorded past and djs took dancers onto intricately fractured time travels. this is the historic foundation that kuf keep probing. just like the sampler and the dj before them, they found new ways to re-allocate where machine and man stand when making music together. most importantly, they turn the resulting friction into sparkling bursts of energy. Ôuniverse digs deeper into the android vocal chords. the album offers sweeping melodies, different beats and persistent bass. immerse in the intimacy of the voices, probably recorded in trains, backstage areas and at late night private parties during berlin lichtenberg warehouse rehearsals. by striking the keys, kuf squeeze out and serve up all the soul accumulated in those savory phonetic shreds.
for the past two years, nils frahm has been building a brand new studio in berlin to make his 7th studio album titled all melody, which will be released on january 26th, 2018 via erased tapes, before nils embarks on his first world tour since 2015.
since the day nils first encountered the impressive studio of a family friend, he had envisioned to create one of his own at such a large scale. fast forward to the present day and nils is now the proud host of saal 3, part of the historical 1950s east german funkhaus building beside the river spree. it is here where he has spent most of his time deconstructing and reconstructing the entire space from the cabling and electricity to the woodwork, before moving on to the finer elements, building a pipe organ and creating a mixing desk all from scratch with the help of his friends. this is somewhere music can be nurtured and not neglected, and where he can somewhat fulfil his pursuit of presenting music to the world as close to his imagination as possible.
>what was old is new again<. the old adage is so tired that nobody takes its proper measure: all people hear is the word old, when the important one is new. making new things out of old things is an act of alchemy. the proof is in this fifth album no rest for the wicked of perpignan which is blown right open here and there by a few very contemporary guests.

after the slightly more conceptual principe del norte-album, 5 takes two steps forward and one step back collecting a batch of tracks that was recorded right after it s preceder and in tandem with the recent square one-album with bjoern torske. a freedom-album of sorts, beyond the slightly misleading album opener here comes the band there s a variety in these tracks tracing inspiration from 35 years (unhealthy)obsession with all things good music played enthusiastically. 5 also marks the launch of my new label prins thomas musikk

house music broke through in 1987, at the same time when aids arrived in france with the first contamination peak in gay and drug addict circles. in 1989, the founders of act-up paris knew that both the fight against aids and triumphant house music should be joined together. from 1992 to 1995, the period covered by Ò120 bpm-, house reached its most beautiful plateau even though techno was becoming dominant. Ò120 bpmÓ is a get-together moment through clubbing, this moment where fears are forgotten by dancing with oneÕs friends, what we called Òthe chosen familyÓ at act-up. boys and girls dancing in a club where the walls cannot be seen, flooded with simple light. this is their activist recess. arnaud rebotini, composing the soundtrack of robin campilloÕs previous film, Òeastern boys-, is a recognized dj, a composer and a kind man, which is for me the most important quality. here, his work is marked by restraint of his love for house and after techno. i believe he deliberately withdrew himself in relation to the filmÕs power and the aids theme.
say what you wanna say, but you have to give strahil velchev this: the manÕs a powerhouse. recording and playing live under the kink alias, he went on to become one of finest purveyorÕs of funk in techno and house. what it is, by definition, ainÕt exactly clear. and that is the beauty of it. kinkÕs music is unifying in the best possible way. channeling the spirit and feeling of a time where it didnÕt really matter who the faces behind the music were, kink plays with the elements of genres and sub-genres as if the future of it all is still wide-open. at the same time it could be accused of retro-fetishism, as much as the pope himself is infallible. the pure need to recreate moments, feelings and experience - rather than carbon copies of existing designs - was what started kinkÕs production work. hailing from bulgaria, it was nearly impossible to get your hands on all the records and music that fed into a system of raves, clubs and record shops that seemed far away from sofia, and financially it might as well have meant another galaxy. wanting to dj without having access to the tracks that spun the carousel meant that you had to create them yourselves. so, here we go with a private bootlegger gone public mastermind and one of the loudest voices in house, techno and beyond. from kinkÕs early productions with neville watson to his smash-hit for ovum, a cerebral album for macro, tons of remixes & tracks and his mind-bending live act, playground seems to take all that into a blender. simultaneously a sound-summary, the harvest of a field of ideas, and the exhibition of an artist in his prime, it also works as a sort of kink dictionary: avant-garde soundscapes stand next to boisterous bangers, classic club tracks and peak time emotions
LE GRAND DEBALLAGE BEST OF LES NEGRESSES VERTES (CD)
CD 16.10.17
what could we possibly expect better from les nŽgresses vertes than a grand dŽballage (big unpacking)? these happy music gipsies, children of the road and party open their caravans and throw everything on the place. twenty artifacts of a feverish schoolÕs fete where guitars and accordion lead the dance. les nŽgresses vertes made their 1999 album ÒtrabendoÓ rigged by the electro wizard howie b., and we get this in our hands with this big unpacking. from the very last single Òvoilˆ lÕŽtŽÓ to latinos excursions with Òhou mamma miaÓ and Òsous le soleil de bodega-, all their hits are here. un gipsy-arabic-andal-andalusian moving which will make you see Òdes vertes et pas mžresÓ - youÕll see it all.

an unreleased classic from the vaults emerges with beautiful reshapes by cv313 (recorded and reshaped from 2007-2016) this is where the sound of cv313 was realized, culled from cassette tapes recorded live (1995-2000) with nothing but analog/digital hardware, no computer in sight (excluding our commodore 64 midi sequencer, which is still alive and well today). the radius project has been absent since the final release in 2001, the first 12- appearing in 1996 (limited white label run of 100 copies pressed at acme pressing in canada) after revisiting these works we realized there was truly some magic here. this project was initially sent to rod modell & mike schommer shortly after they launched their brilliant deepchord label in 2001. they were incredibly kind in saying it was the best demo they had ever heard and passed it on to octal records for release, sadly, that didn t materialize and since then these masters have been collecting dust in our cassette rack for nearly 20 years now. we ve spent months doing our best to restore the old tapes from our tascam 688, an 8 track cassette recorder purchased and abused since 1992 and to our ears still sounds quite impressive even by modern standards. (that is of course, if you can get past the tape hiss) we ve had nearly every component replaced and re-calibrated to bring this obsolete machine back to life, it s been a truly nostalgic experience re-visiting these masters.
this marks the third single from intrusion s forthcoming album: -a gentle embrace- the second official album since 2009 s critically acclaimed, -the seduction of silence-. what has not been heard before comes into glimpse via analog circuitry, obsolete synthesis & sonic exploration beyond dreams. gorgeous plumes of sound evaporate into the ether, shifting and undulating to the unseen electro-magnetic pulse of the universe. this double cd set features the original mix as well as three beautifully hypnotic dub reductions from cv313 and an epic 70+ minute entrancing ambient rework from variant, which might be one of our personal favorites to date. a passionate, galactic, deep voyage to the other side of the galaxy, we ll meet you in the stars. for those who loved deepchord presents echospace s classic, -the coldest season- on modern love you will find plenty to appreciate here, a beautiful analog tapestry made in the heart of detroit, techno city.
through the sparkle is a collaboration between french ensemble astr•d and american pianist and composer rachel grimes. rachel grimes is best known for her chamber music project rachelÕs, a hugely influential group formed in 1991 in louisville, kentucky, releasing six studio albums between 1995 and 2005. she has also released a string of contemporary classical works in recent years on labels such as temporary residence. astr•d is a collective of four musicians based in nantes, releasing records on rune grammofon and home normal. after years of mail and email back and forth over the ocean, from nantes to kentucky, astr•d invited rachel to come for a residency to make music together and play shows in france. they gathered for a few days, here and there, in 2012 and 2013 to write songs in cyril and vanina s home studio in the countryside.
welcome to the ska beat!. the sound that came from jamaica between 1961-67. based on the american rnb and doo-wop records that sound systems in kingston town used to play. the american records style started to mellow out while the jamaican preferred a more upbeat sound.. so to meet this demand the sound system bosses became record producers to cater for this demand. sir coxonne and duke reid lead the way by putting the top musicians on the island in the studio to make this ska sound!! here for your enjoyment is a selection of the some of the top tunes that made ska so greatÉ we hope you enjoy the bestÉ.
after only 3 short years, my second album o u r w a l l s is out. it comes clad in vinyl, polycarbonate, bits and bytes and iÕm very happy and relieved to finally let go of this one. the cores of its 10/11 (cd/2lp) tracks were developed on a loop pedal at home. lyrics spun here and there. almost all of them are trying to extract levels of meaning from an everchanging knot of emotions. they take their time - ranging between t h r e e m i n u t e s f o u r t y to t h i r t e e n m i n u t e s f i f t y s e v e n - to clinically isolate, examine and name the elementary building blocks constituting the knot. o u r w a l l s is about the ups and downs of your everyday-mercilessly-hopeless love relationship, about staying mild when things get rough, fabulous metaphors, childish selfdefence mechanisms, the burning space in b e t w e e n words and o u r very personal w a l l s that have so far always kept us safe
cd format cocoon recordings presents q - the new edition of one of the longest running techno compilation series worldwide! we do not want to start again by mentioning how unbelievable it is that we have reached letter q already and we do not even want to imagine how fast we will probably arrive at xyz, if time continues to fly like this. the actual thrilling part of this compilation series is simply the fact that techno seems to not grow any older in this form - isnt this amazing? here, in the truest sense of the word, we have a compilation of timeless material before us. with a broad bandwidth ranging from futuristic-deconstructive compositions such as da dang by alex & digby and fragile by carlos nilmmns or the many contributions to q that fancy almost anachronistic acid and trance influences: everything sounds fresh and forward thinking!
featuring a host of luminaries from the world of soul & r&b, chart-topping songwriter and award winning producer mike city presents new album Ôthe feel good agenda vol.1Õ. earning his big break back in the year 2000 as writer and producer of a #1 hit in the form of Ôi wishÕ performed by carl thomas, mike went on to work with brandy, rihanna, angie stone and jamie foxx as well as penning sunshine andersonÕs smash hit Ôheard it all beforeÕ. renowned for his deeply rooted, melodic production style and distinctive vocal arrangements, mike city consistently finds himself in-demand from a-list hip hop, r&b and pop artists, as well as finding favor in dance music circles during recent years. placing him inside their Ôtop 100 soulful house artists of 2016Õ, traxsource declared mike Òone of the soulful sceneÕs most in-demand producers, singers and songwritersÓ and Òa name synonymous with quality music, no matter the genreÓ. a highly accomplished vocalist in his own right, Ôthe feel good agenda vol.1Õ sees mike take centre stage, showcasing a selection of previously unreleased songs with a little help from his friends. best described as r&binfused dance music, the album boasts cameo vocal appearances from leading lights of the urban music scene including: faith evans, lalah hathaway, dwele, teedra moses and the man whose voice kick-started mikeÕs stellar career, carl thomas.

a lot can be said about the stubborn and confrontational ways of prolific dutch producer drvg cvltvre and his new york haunted label, but one can never accuse him of taking the easy way out. musically, his output of experimental electronics has swayed between heavy industrial techno and noise, composed music and slow, doomy and experimental house. on this new, full lenght album nobody cares forever he blends all of the above. from the orchestral hit, rave fueled opener to the melancholic synths of closing track all of my heroes and everything in between is pure experimentation and decomposing of standard house, rave and techno elements. now, here, in this #trumpage, you can feel his resistance to authority and the readiness to confront in every inch and fiber of this album...
suction records is thrilled to present the debut archival album release by rx-101, a bedroom techno producer from the netherlands, erik jong. -like yesterdays- compiles 10 tracks from rx-101 s first two vinyl-only 12- eps, together with three cd/digital album exclusives. this previously unreleased material dates from 1997-1999, recorded live to cassette in a feverish burst of creativity, utilizing a small arsenal of classic techno instruments. here s rx-101 in his own words: -from childhood i loved dance music. in the 80s one of my older brothers always recorded mixes from the radio and we always listened to that. my other brother and sister took music lessons in electronic organ and when i was about 9 years old i did the same. i quit when i was 14. from childhood i was fascinated by synthesizers. in the late 80s i started more and more listening to dance and house music and it was 1991 when i started listening to techno from labels like underground resistance, transmat, metroplex, +8 records and warp
what if we took you back to your untroubled teenage days, when all seemed complicated and easy to reach at the same time? that is exactly what cassius managed to transpose in 15 again: a carefree music, coloured by some deep songs, like an emancipated soul, but always tormented. the hit Òtoop toopÓ, sampled by madonna or david guetta, among others, and the intense Òla notteÓ illustrate perfectly this state of mind of the youth. pharrell williams is present on the song Òeye waterÓ, a beautiful ode to our planet and its natural resources, and cassius has got further exciting surprises for you. weÕre releasing their third album once again for this summer, a real shot of freshness to relieve you from the heat!
after their first (very) successful album, cassius decided not to rely on their natural ability to make us dance to their groovy basslines, and came back with a daring project: integrate some mostly african-american influenced singings in their compositions to give electronic music a new dimension. dont worry, the catchy-rythmic sound of cassius is still here. you might recognise the voice of ghostface killah, one of wu tang clans members that delivers a punchy performance on the upbeat tempo track thrilla, as well as steve edwards, the house music singer who sang with swedish producer axwell, and whos also known for having lent his voice to bob sinclar on the famous world, hold on. were releasing the album once more, so that you can get back into the fabulous swing of cassius.
peripheral minimal is proud to announce the forthcoming album, aus den anti-imperialistischen tagebü,,,chern , by in namen des volkes. indv is the brainchild of hamburg resident matthias schuster (also of bal pare, das institut, geisterfahrer and others), and creates a more heavy-weight style of minimal synth in the spirit of d.a.f., or even early front 242. the tracks were taken directly off cassettes and reworked with added vocals, whilst maintaining the original 80s recording techniques of 4-track and purely analogue instrumentation, strictly no plug-ins or digitalism here! matthias has been actively producing complex synthetic sounds since the late 1970s, having released seminal albums and singles on respected labels such as, plastic frog, minimal wave and medical records. his passion for all things analogue seems to be irrepressible, devoting a considerable amount of time to myriad projects each with their own unique qualities and sonics. he musically switches from neue deutsche welle stylings, to minimal synth and proto-ebm with great dexterity and a rare continuing dedication. the album is presented in a luxurious digipak and limited to 300 copies. recorded between 1980 - 2015. artwork by kilgore trout.
a year after their impressive last album burn it down, detroit techno legends octave one are back with a nine track double ep that again shows they are masters of big hypnotic grooves. entitled love by machine, the albums name is a nod to the fact that the burden brothers are such revered masters of their hardware. both in the studio, where they cook up atmospheric house and techno with soaring synths and vocals and also in the live arena, where they are celebrated as one of the most accomplished and forward thinking performers in the game today. that is all the more impressive when you bear in mind they have been active since the 80s, most often releasing on their own 430 west label, which is where they appear again here.
TOGO SOUL 70 (SELECTED RARE TOGOLESE RECORDINGS FROM 1971 TO 1981) (CD)
CD 25.11.16
hot casa records present togo soul 70 (selected rare togolese recordings from 1971 to 1981). a treasure-trove of rare and unusual recordings mostly recorded in lomŽ during the 70Õs, a fusion of traditional voodoo chants, raw soul and afro jazz. hot casa records selected 13 tracks, a snapshot of some hundreds of rare and often forgotten tapes from the most prolific, professional and exciting phase of the countryÕs recording history, including international stars like bella bellow (who even performed to maracana stadium in brazil), or roger damawuzan, compared as the james brown from lomŽ, and forgotten tapes and brilliant songs in mina, kabyiŽ and fon languages. many of the tracks featured here are peppered with innovation and experimentation highlighting how diverse the music scene in togo was at the time, even if the political context influenced their creation.
the third instalment of the stil vor talent berlin compilation series brings forth a new gang of carefully selected artists, gathered under the umbrella of another underground berlin hotspot. kottbusser tor is undoubtedly the beating heart of kreuzberg, unashamedly pulsating 24/7 with the good, the bad and the ugly. theres no place quite like it, thanks to its raw charme. as always, music is the common denominator and oliver koletzki delivers the perfect soundtrack with this new release, while chrisse kunst renders the visual.
hotflush are proud to introduce an exciting young artist, pyur, along with her singular debut lp epoch sinus. despite her relative newness, pyur meets the world with fully formed and unique signatures in both visual and sonic work, revealing a deep artistry that transcends medium. growing up in munich, in and amongst the same fecund scene that spawned artists like the zenker brothers and skee mask, pyur cut her teeth from a young age as a guitarist and singer before becoming spellbound by the electronic worldÕs endless scope for sound design. endowed with innately strong synaesthesia and reared in a shamanic household, she tells how music Òplayed the biggest role in my growth. it alone had the purpose to help me dissolve boundaries, discover the beauty of lifeÕs mechanisms, create freely. it talked. soon i felt like the music was making me, not the other way round.Ó epoch sinus is a seamless and heartfelt whole, a life-like being unto itself, describing the disintegration of barriers between the self and the all. here pyur offers an intimate and personal statement, combining knowledge of universal harmony with electronic music. she states: Òi m mainly influenced by my inner visions and nature itself, yet also a lot from club culture, which is undoubtedly an important space of connection and freedom for so many people. the record dances playfully between supposedly incompatible qualities: moments of brutality turn to softness, new life embraces decomposition, while explosive rhythmic and melodic structures are tempered with gentle and subtle percussion.

an epic from rod modell aka deepchord
the first solo album from rod modell (deepchord) in nearly 10 years, following up 2007 s -incense & blacklight- comes in lush form with, -mediterranea-. clocking in at 72 minutes, this cerebral epic reveals a sense of timelessness and stillness, an exquisite portrayal of reflection that is sonically enriching and emotionally engaging. opening with field recordings conducted while abroad in the islands of spain, sculpts a sublime sense of nuance that creeps into fore as time passes, gradually enveloping and evolving into what sounds as an orchestra playing from the fathomless ends of the ocean. the quiet jazz induced snare percussion honors the melody hidden deep beneath the surface. congas and tribal rhythms accentuate its colorful and vibrant dream-like melodies that slowly expose themselves into the mix. haunting, alluding to the symphonic, its emotional depth shift gradually, revealing the underlying, subconscious tonal colors. the magic and lushness of the strings, the beautiful resonance of the violin and the love felt in each key stroke tugs right at the heart strings. to us here at echospace, this may be the most beautiful and inviting piece we ve ever heard from rod, absolutely stunning!
